GOSS Atlantic Wall - June 6 PM
Things continue to go swimmingly for the Canadians and other Commonwealth forces at Gold, Juno and Sword beaches. 6th Airborne afternoon glider landings had no losses and most were spot on the Pathfinder signals. The 6th's para engineer who, as it turned out luckily, scattered to the West "wrong" side of river was able to ferry the O & B across the Orrne river / canal. Seeing all these Red Devils swarming about and having completed their bad deeds (blowing Pegasus bridge) the Hun hath hastily retreated.
[I had been trying to finagle German player into believing the three FoW counters stuck between river and canal could sneak up the spit of land and cross Orne Canal bridge to reach new LZ on west side (we had been thinking bridge demo only affected the river bridge, until we tried to figure out if/how he could demo the canal bridge along same hexside). With help of US player we eventually ruled that since the Minor R. + canal combo is treated as Major River; that is how it is blown and rebuilt. Rather than two individual bridges.]
Through indomitable tenacity [and AW 4.6.6a CDO Special Assault rule] the 48th Royal Marines and 4 Commando have eliminated Strong Points Hillman and Riva Bella. 3 Commando got a step loss on StP Douvres.
[Stacked each attack hex with the max five steps of CDO / Engineer / Pure Armor. Then proceded to make every roll. Given that Strong Points are equivalent to forts, this is by far easiest (and riskiest) way to deal with them.]
Infantry backed by divisional engineers took out a couple Widerstandsnest (WN) along the flanks of Gold and one near Juno beach. The rest of 3rd, 3rd Canadian and 50th infantry divisions moved inland as far as they could. Which was not that far given all the mucking about on crowded beaches occured. Mopping up a few artillery / 88 batteries and infanterie kompanies that failed to get out of way fast enough.

I've seen the clarification post that US Divisions are "Green 2". But, current GOSS 2020 doesn't use that terminology and I can't find any mention of Green in the GOSS book that came with my AW. I've been guessing Green 2 means Raw.]

Reading, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillman_Fortress having unhistorically taken out Hillman I, apparently, have no excuse to not capture Caen before June 7 AM.
